Academies are particularly special, as children encourage other children to get involved. From their peers, participants learn important background information on the climate crisis and they see how much fun it can be to plant trees and to get involved themselves.
Academies are aimed at children between 10-12 years, and participation in an Academy is free for all children!
Plant-for-the-Planet Academies are recognized as an official project of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development – an education concept which imparts sustainable thinking and acting to children and adults. We have to learn that our actions today will affect the lives of my children and the children of people in other parts of the world. With the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), the United Nations has committed itself to strengthening this educational approach.
Climate crisis and global justice: Where does climate crisis come from and what causes it – for people locally and elsewhere?
CO2 Environmental context: What impact do trees have on the climate crisis? – How do they reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere?
Soft Skills, argumentation – how to give a good presentation, how to observe and useful tricks
Techniques for public relations and motivational work: What can children themselves actually do? How do they reach their friends, school and the media?
There are 6 main modules at a Plant-for-the-Planet Academy (see left). The opening presentation is mostly given by children to children. All presentations can be download on our homepage in different languages.
